RCA Board Approves Purchase and Renovation of Additional Facilities as School Grows
The Rhea County Academy board has recently approved the purchase of the former Rhea County Department of Education building and property to accommodate the continued growth of the school. The purchased property is directly across the street from the RCA campus and will provide much needed space for a separate Junior High and High School campus.
While the property purchased is a former school campus, much renovation and updating needs to be done before the new property can be put into use as a school. While the school has received many donations to assist in this project, a $50,000 fundraising campaign is being launched to provide the funds to complete the necessary renovations. It is the school’s goal to raise the necessary funds in time to complete the renovations so the fall semester can begin in the new campus.
Once renovation is completed, this campus will provide expanded classroom space for the Junior High and High School programs while simultaneously allowing the elementary school to grow in the current facilities. Currently, there are few designated-purpose classrooms due to space limitations, but upon move-in on the new Junior High and High School camps all age groups will be able to benefit by having designated-purpose classrooms for Art, Music, etc.
Donations for this project are being accepted on-line or in the form of checks or cash.
