Home School Umbrella
We would like to invite you to join the RCA Homeschool Umbrella. RCA will also be offering Bryan College Dual Enrollment on campus for any homeschool student who would be interested. The list below is included in your umbrella package:

Parent/Guardian Responsibility:
- Choose and purchase curriculum
- Email RCA office with a list of curriculum at the beginning of each year/semester
- Keep up with attendance (a minimum of 180 days is required by the state)
- Teach the curriculum
- Evaluate student’s work
- Email student’s grades to RCA at the end of each semester
- Promptly respond to emails from the RCA office
- Notify the office of any changes in your child’s education plan
RCA provides:
- Attendance reporting to the state
- Record keeping
- Curriculum review
- Academic Counseling & support
Cost:
if enrolled by August 1 of the current year ($20 fee for late registration)
- $100 per year for 1 student
- $25 for each additional student with a max of $200 per family
A-la-carte classes:
(optional) You may choose for your child to take individual classes on our campus. The cost for these are as follows:
- K-6 $500/semester for electives, $600/semester for Core classes
- High school & Jr. High classes $750 per semester
Requesting Documents:
(transcripts, driver’s license form, etc.)
- Requests are handled in the order they are received
- They are generally processed within 5 business days
- Requests will not be processed unless the student’s records & payments are up to date
- You may pay a $15 rush fee to have it processed by the next business day
Achievement Testing:
- This is optional for umbrella students K-8th grade
- In order to graduate from RCA, we require that high school students take an achievement test (ACT, ACT Aspire, SAT, or other approved test) once during high school
Curriculum:
RCA does not provide textbooks or materials. Parents/Guardians are responsible for choosing and obtaining all needed materials. For Kindergarten, parents need at least a math and reading curriculum. For 1st-6th grades, students need at least Math, English, and Reading. For 7th & 8th grades, students need at least Math, English, Reading, History & Science. While there are many good places to find curriculum, these are some we recommend:

High school students:
- Parents of highs school students are required to meet with the principal at the beginning of each school year to discuss their high school graduation plan.
- Parents are required to let RCA know by the end of the student’s junior year if they are planning on graduating the following year.
High School Graduation Requirements:
In order to graduate from RCA, you must:
- Satisfy all payment requirements, including the senior fee
- Meet all credit requirements (see below)
- Submit standardized test scores to the office
- Be at least 17 years of age
22 Credits Minimum
4 credits English
4 credits Math (Algebra 1, Algebra 2, & Geometry are required)
3 credits Science with 2 labs (Biology, Chemistry or Physics are required)
3 credits History
1 credit Physical Education
½ credit Wellness
½ credit Personal Finance
2 credits Foreign Language (the same language for both credits)
1 credit Fine Arts
3 credits electives
- 1 credit = 1 year of study or at least 150 hours
- 1/2 credit = 1 semester of study or at least 75 hours
Senior Fee is $50 and includes the cost of a diploma and graduation gown, as well as the mailing of transcripts for a year for free. (The fee is required even if you are not walking in our graduation ceremony)
RCA Homeschool Umbrella Dual Enrollment*
To begin the registration process for any of these courses please fill out the preliminary registration form and return to our office as soon as possible. You will also need to register with Bryan College. Once we have received your intention to register we will contact you with the entire process and help you through it. *Students must be at least 16 years old and a high school junior or senior with at least a 3.0 G.P.A to enroll. All students are encouraged to apply for the Tennessee Dual Enrollment Grant. The RCA office is very willing to assist you in this process. After the initial registration with RCA you will need to register with Bryan College’s partner site program as well. RCA will coordinate a time to fill out that paperwork with all families involved. RCA will also coordinate a financial aid evening to explain Dual Enrollment Grant and answer questions about college financial aid.
